Paige Spiranac reveals the outfit that was breaking point for online hate

Paige Spiranac tried to cover up.

The golf influencer, who’s known for her revealing outfits on the course and in her social media posts, recalled the time when she resorted to wearing turtlenecks and completely covering herself to combat hate comments.

“I wanted to be taken seriously as a professional golfer and no matter what I did, no matter what I posted, I would get hate,” Spiranac said during an appearance on Haley and Hanna Cavinder’s “Twin Talk” podcast with Betr Media on Wednesday.

“There was one time where I wore a full turtleneck [and] leggings. I was completely covered from head to toe, and people were upset with my outfit.”

In the clip posted on Instagram, a photo is shown of Spiranac wearing the black turtleneck and maroon leggings while on a golf course.

“When that happened, I just said, ‘OK, well I’m just going to do what I want to do, and I’m going wear what I want to wear and if people like it, great and if they dislike it, OK great,’” she said.

The Cavinder twins — who became two of the top NIL earners while they attended the University of Miami — praised Spiranac for how she approached the situation.

The three then bonded over dealing with the negative attention that comes with being in the spotlight and a popular fixture on social media.

“I was like, ‘OK, clearly no matter what I wear or what I do people are going to be upset about it so I might as well wear what I want and live the life that I want to live,’” Spiranac continued.

“That’s why you can’t control what other people say or the judgment that they have because they see a small little portion of your life.”

Spiranac went on to explain why she doesn’t take it personally when she sees negative opinions from critics.

“There are also days where I will leave the house and wear sweats and my hair is up and I’m wearing no makeup,” she said.

“There are different facets of my personality, which I can’t always show on social media, and so I try to not take it so personal when somebody comes at me in a very negative way when they don’t know me.”

Spiranac added that she would only “take a step back” from social media if her family ever approaches her with concerns about her posts, which she said they have yet to do.

“My family is so supportive and they love who I am and they love what I do so I don’t really care,” she said. “So I’ve learned into that because that’s how I feel most confident.”

Spiranac has addressed negative comments about her body and fashion choices on social media numerous times.

“It’s crazy I can be told I look too fat, too skinny, too plastic, too old, wearing too much makeup, not enough makeup, boobs too big, butt not big enough, too pale, hair too blonde, not blonde enough all in one day,” Spiranac wrote on X in 2021. “Guys it’s not a Build-a-Bear workshop over here. Calm it down.”

One year later, Maxim named her the “World’s Sexiest Woman” and anointed her the top spot on Maxim’s “Hot 100.”
