‘Just two legends and a random girl in the middle’: Iga Swaitek Snaps With Agassi And Graf

Iga Swiatek

That’s a whole lot of trophies in one photo. 2022 US Open champion Iga Swiatek recently found herself on the receiving end of a star-studded meet-up with tennis’ original power couple, Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf.

Swiatek met the two International Tennis Hall of Famers this week at the Cincinnati Open, where she’s fine-turning her hard-court acumen in the hopes of adding another US Open trophy to her cabinet later this summer. Her campaign at the WTA 1000 event began Wednesday night with a three-set win over France’s Varvara Gracheva, her 43rd win of the season.

“Just two legends and a random girl in the middle,” the Pole cheekily wrote when she shared the snapshot on Thursday.

With all due respect to Swiatek, we’d disagree with that assessment.

With five Grand Slam titles among the myriad of accomplishments she’s already achieved at the young age of 23, the Pole will no doubt be a first-ballot entry into Newport’s annals, too, when her career concludes. More immediately, this year’s Roland Garros champion has also locked up her place as the top seed in the US Open women’s draw for the third year in a row, as she seeks to become the 13th woman in the Open Era to win multiple singles titles in Flushing Meadows.

The odds are good that Agassi and Swiatek, at least, will reunite in the Big Apple, too.

Agassi is set to join other tennis all-stars including Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Juan Martin del Potro, Jessica Pegula, Gabriela Sabatini, Frances Tiafoe, Venus Williams and Caroline Wozniacki for the glitzy Stars of the Open presented by Chase exhibition on Aug. 21, one of the anchor events of US Open Fan Week. The stars of past and present will come together inside Arthur Ashe Stadium for an unforgettable night of tennis and entertainment that will benefit a good cause, all while getting fans excited for the two weeks of main-draw action to come.

Tickets for the event are on sale now, and a portion of proceeds from the event will go towards benefitting the USTA Foundation, the national philanthropic arm of the USTA, that provides under-resourced youth across the United States with sport-based development opportunities, academic services, scholarships and grants.
