Iga Świątek is a Polish professional tennis player who was currently ranked world No. 1 by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA). Swiatek was born on May 31, 2001, in Warsaw, Poland. Information on her educational background hasn’t been provided.

In 2019, she started playing regularly on the WTA Tour and at the age of 18, she entered the top 50 after her maiden WTA final and a fourth-round appearance at the 2019 French Open. Świątek did not lose more than five games in any singles match during her French Open title run in 2020.

For the first time, she entered the top ten of the WTA rankings in May 2021 after winning the Italian Open. On March 21, 2022, she reached a career-high ranking of No. 2, following back-to-back WTA 1000 titles in 2022 at Qatar and Indian Wells. Swiatek became world No. 1 on April 4, 2022, after the retirement of the world No. 1 Ashleigh Barty.

In 2020 and 2022, she was the champion at the French Open. Swiatek is the first player representing Poland to win a major singles title. Since Rafael Nadal in 2005, she became the youngest singles champion at the French Open in 2020 and the youngest women’s singles champion at a major since Maria Sharapova in 2004.
