Djokovic, Swiatek top money lists again as over 100 players earn $1 million or more in 2024

For the second year in a row, Novak Djokovic and Iga Swiatek have topped the list of money-earners on the ATP and WTA Tours respectively.

The pair top their respective lists for 2023, in a year when 111 players – up from 97 in 2022 – earned at least $1 million in prize money alone, from singles and doubles combined.

In total, 69 men and 42 women earned more than $1 million, compared to 58 and 39 in 2022.

DOMINANT DJOKOVIC WELL CLEAR AT TOP OF ATP MONEY LIST

Not surprisingly, given that he won three Grand Slam titles, reached the final of the other and won the season-ending ATP Finals, Djokovic is well clear of the pack in the ATP list.

The 36-year-old earned $15,952,044 in 2023, taking his career earnings to $180,643,353, miles clear of the next man, Rafael Nadal, who has $134,640,719 to his name. It is the fourth year in a row that Djokovic has finished on top.

Carlos Alcaraz is second in the 2023 list, his total of $10,753,431 boosted, of course, by his stunning victory over Djokovic in the Wimbledon final. Daniil Medvedev, runner-up at the US Open, and Jannik Sinner, who ended the season with a burst, are third and fourth.

SWIATEK AND SABALENKA WILL CLEAR OF REST IN WTA LIST

Swiatek won her fourth Grand Slam title in 2023, picking up a third Roland-Garros title. The Pole tops the WTA money list with $9,857,686, a healthy lead over the next best, Aryna Sabalenka, helped also by her victory in the WTA Finals.

The Belarusian picked up her first slam title at the Australian Open and went deep in the other three slams, ending up with $8,195,703.

The top two are well clear of the next best, Coco Gauff, on $5,953,882 while her doubles partner Jessica Pegula picked up $5,200,095.

12 MEN WIN $1 MILLION FROM DOUBLES ALONE

While the vast majority of players who reached the $1 million mark did so by virtue of their singles efforts, some managed it in doubles.

In fact, 12 players – six pairs – won $1 million or more from doubles alone. The list, in no particular order, is: Joe Salsibury and Rajeev Ram, Austin Krajicek and Ivan Dodig, Matt Ebden and Rohan Bopanna, Neal Skupski and Wesley Koolhof, Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Santiago Gonzalez and Horacio Zeballos and Marcel Granollers.

Though no women managed to win $1 million in doubles alone but Hsieh Su-wei got pretty close, earning $816,664. And Gauff and Jessica Pegula supplemented their singles income by winning $715,740 in doubles.
