In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Paige Spiranac got candid about her bold fashion choice, her critics, and how her choice of clothes indeed makes a statement in the golf world. Her video with the popular magazine quickly went viral and garnered a lot of attention.
Extending her thoughts about what she said about her fashion choice, the golf beauty took to her Instagram to share some more details about her choice of clothes. She shared with her community the reason she started donning the kind of clothes she wears.
Spiranac shared that when she started golfing, her family “didn’t have much money” to splurge on the expensive golf attire. She said that because of her financial constraints, she did not have the “luxury to buy a whole new ‘golf’ wardrobe.” So, as a result, she had to make do with her existing wardrobe and wear what was in her closet and was “comfortable” to her. Commenting on women’s attire in the sport, she said that there were not a lot of “great golf options for a 13-year-old girl” when she started playing.
Taking her stance on women’s clothing in golf, she said that it could still improve a lot, as there is a huge scope for improvement in it. Lastly, she wrote about her own style: “I’ve always had my own personal style.” In her recent Instagram stories, she also revealed that her mother played a huge role in her life and taught her some valuable lessons about clothing.

Golf mommy pays homage to her mother
Spiranac shared with her fans on her Instagram story that her mother was a professional ballet dancer, and later in her career, she modeled. She shared that her mother raised her and taught her to be comfortable in her own skin. She shared that she has been wearing leotards since her childhood.
Along with the sweet and powerful message, she shared a determined yet beautiful picture of her mother in a black swimsuit, back from her young days. Paying homage to her mother in her own way, Spirnac wrote that she was never told what she could wear and what she couldn’t. Her mother taught her that what matters is what is on the inside.
